CHALLENGER HOME SCHOOL LAB

Take charge as a vital crew member, working from mission control and aboard a space shuttle to help your team complete an exciting  simulated space mission.
Team work and problem solving have never been more fun! In this class students will work with peers to build essential skills while working on math, science, physics, and reading.

Micronauts (1st-3rd) will learn about our solar system and take part in an investigative mini-mission.

Members of the Mars Mission (4th-12th) will work together to build and launch a probe, keep the crew safe and healthy, navigate to Mars and repair the ship. But be ready for anything—it’s rarely smooth sailing around the Red planet.

There will be two missions offered.
Micronauts for grades 1st-3rd
Mars for grades 4th-12th

4th– 12th   2:00 to 4:00 pm

$8.00 per student (member); $10.00 per student (non member)

HOME SCHOOL 2011 - 2012
McWane Science Center's Home School Labs are designed to supplement what you are teaching at home.  Students will be able to use equipment and take part in experiments that are not easily executed in the home classroom.  Our labs fall within the standards of the Alabama Course of Study as well as the National Science Standards.

Enrollment is now open for Home School and will be taken on a first-come first-served basis. Full payment is required at the time of registration. 

Classes close when maximum student enrollment is reached. Capacity for Pre-K & K labs is 16 students. Capacity for 1st – 12th grade labs is 25 students.

Pre K-K through 6th grade labs will be offered on the 2nd Tuesdays of each month from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. The cost for all 8 sessions is $85.00 for members and $95.00 for non-members.

7th -12th grade labs will be offered on the 1st Wednesdays of each month from 2:00pm – 4:30pm. The cost for all 8 sessions is $102.50 for members and $112.50 for non-members.

We will still be hosting a required orientation for parents of NEW home school students on Tuesday, September 6th from 3:00pm – 4:00pm.
