Igniting a Love for Science
McWane Science Center, through the dedicated support of our donors, provides families, teachers and students with the tools needed to make science concepts come to life. Through teacher trainings, classroom programs, public education programs, and science camps, we are able to ignite a love for life-long learning about science and technology. During the 2008/2009 school-year, over 82,000 students participated in McWane Science Center field trips—approximately 20% of these children visited through scholarships.
McWane Science Center greatly appreciates the support of U.S. Senator Richard Shelby, U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions, and Representative Spencer Bachus. Through their efforts, McWane Science Center will continue to serve as an extension of classroom, family, and community learning for 2009/2010. Their dedication has helped us obtain the funds needed to provide a series of free teacher education workshops, reserved educational programs, public educational programs, Celebrate Science Exhibit Design Challenge, and science outreaches. These programs will enhance visitor knowledge in the areas of physics, chemistry, biology, environmental/earth science, technology, robotics, and engineering design. Thank you Senator Shelby, Senator Sessions, and Congressman Bachus for helping McWane Science Center “change lives through science and wonder.”
You too can support the educational needs of our children. A donation of $10 can make a difference in the life of one disadvantaged student, $250 can impact a classroom. Help McWane Science Center change lives through science and wonder. Contact Pam McCleod at 205-714-8317 to find out more.
